A Visit With an Astronaut

While sitting at Flight Deck Cafe this morning, we watched a NASA jet come in for a landing. The 2 pilots came into the restaurant and sat down for breakfast. Oscar mustered up the courage to go ask them for their autographs. They were very gracious and kind to Oscar. Shortly after Oscar sat down, one of the pilots came up to our table and said, "Oscar, I'm going to go out to my plane, would you like to come out and take a look?" Of course he said yes. Joined by Jacob and Grandpa Cobbley, everyone had a up close look at this T-38. The astronaut in training lifted each of them up so they could see inside the cockpit. It was a great experience and you can tell from Oscar's expression, he totally loved it. This is the gentleman who is with the boys in these pictures: http://www.jsc.nasa.gov/Bios/htmlbios/fischer-jack.html

Flag Football April 16th, 2011

The boys had great games last Saturday. Here's a clip of 2 good plays that Jacob had in his game.

Oscar had a great game! He scored 3 touchdowns and had several touchdown saving "flag-pulls" to lead his team to a 18-6 victory. I split his clips into 2 videos to fit them on the blog.

Here's the 2nd video

Oscar's Giraffe

Oscar has thoroughly enjoyed his art classes with Mrs. W. He's now taking a third session and he still comes home from his lessons with a huge grin on his face. It's quickly scanned (not no quickly if it still needs to dry) and emailed to the grandparents. I'll see Oscar throughout the week eye his artwork on the fridge and ask questions like, "Mom, does my artwork make you happy?" or "Mom, I can't wait to see what I'll do next week at my art lesson." I'm excited what you'll do next, too, buddy.

Self Taught

Marsha took Henry's training wheels off of his bike. She then put the tools away and went inside to get the video camera. When she came outside, this is what she found:

Henry loves playing soccer!

Henry is in his first season of soccer. At this age, it is a simple game. 3 vs. 3 with no goalies, and the team who has players with older brothers win. Henry understands what needs to happen while the other 5 players on the field haven't had the backyard tutoring experiences that Henry has received from his older brothers. He did great in this game, scoring 3 goals in the first half and 2 goals in the 2nd half. These 3 clips are all from the 1st half. Way to go, Henry!!!

Here is the 2nd goal.

Here is the 3rd goal followed by some commentary at half time.

Jacob's Soccer Game and Pine Wood Derby

This past weekend, Jacob played a soccer game where he scored a long goal on a penalty kick and then a few minutes later, he made a great pass to help his teammate score a goal. In the second half of the video, you will see Jacob's pine wood derby car race. In his four races, Jacob finished 2nd, 1st, 3rd and 1st. Out of the 20 cars, I don't know where he finished but we think it was around 7th or 8th.

A non-Christmas Party

To celebrate this guy's birth.

Good friends are real heroes. We had a great time!!

Happy Birthday Sir Henry. We'd keep you at three longer if possible, but I'm sure you'll be just as charming as a 4 year old.
