Spring-Summer 2018

I need and want to capture our fun...because these certainly are days I hope to never forget.  These postings are intended for my kids to review what their days were filled with once upon a time.

Hazel's last day of school and graduation.

Thank you Miss Gibson for an incredible year!

And Mr. Provonsha, you brought many smiles to many...especially to this little kindergartner.

I kept up on some wonderful runs...despite a scary close call with a rattlesnake!!

Memorial Day and summer kick off found us in the ER with an acute hypercondylar fracture for this little aerial gymnast.  She jumped from a raised structure into a cartwheel on the trampoline.  Her little humerus couldn't support such imaginative moves and broke.  Surgery, 2 pins, a hard cast and the most excellent care at Cardon's Children's Hospital.

Of course we had to summon Dad from up north at Boys' Camp to be with us.  Despite intermittent cell phone service, when the texts DID come through that surgery was necessary, he was willing to break out of the compound in the dark of night...and make a long drive down the dark, desert highway...he arrived in her hospital room at 2 a.m.

Major movie/bed head.  It was quite a nest!

But we found a cure!

Post surgery.  She was sooooo tired.  Anesthesia + exhaustion made waking this sleeping beauty quite a challenge.  Dan sent Henry and me home and waited until she could wake up, drink, and take medicine so that she could be discharged.  We were ready to go home.

The "Hazel Dab"
She got such a kick out of modifying this move.

Left-handed magic begins.

Henry fine tuning his right-handed magic.

Lest Oscar forgets...he did get his 14th birthday cake after all.  Late in true Provonsha Birthday Fashion...but it did come!!  Man, was it worth the wait!!

You're sure getting up there, buddy. :)

A Teenager and No Truck Moving Co.
Oscar all set to move Dan out of his office.  Dan will be at the Gilbert North High School now.

I took this picture on the drive to Carlsbad.  My mind kept replaying the following:
"Jacob is driving.
80 mph.
How did we get here?"

He is a terrific driver!

See...we made it...safe and sound ;)

This blue cast cover saved the trip for us.  Kept sand and water out.  Thanks Amazon!

Beach bums # 1 & 2

Had a few good runs.

Mormon Battalion Historic Site

Chartered a sail boat for a few hours

Hazel yelling at Oscar to stop eating her cotton candy and Universal Studios.

True love.

Incredible Lego Dinosaur

Catching up with friends back home.

2nd attempt on sail boat.  First attempt was cut short due to swells due to a hurricane down the coast.  Captain took us to Camp Pendleton (way cool!) and through Oceanside Marina for free and asked us to come back in a few days when the storm down south had dissipated.  We saw hundreds of dolphins.  The swam right along the nose of the boat.  It was incredible!!

Cast is off!!

The day after Hazel's cast is removed, Jacob gets injured doing box jumps during football practice.  Doc put in 2 subdermal stitches and 4 on top.  It looked more like a puncture wound so was tricky.  Doc did a great job.

One of my favorite parts of the drive to Utah.

"It's so beautiful, I can't stand it!"  I actually said these words as Dan and I went running on the Spanish Fork trail during our stay with my amazing sister and her family.

Beauty rest is real!

Brick Oven is always a go-to during our visit.  Provo has changed so much so it's nice to go there to feel nostalgic.

Jacob meeting Remi.  She is delightful. She lived up to everything we knew she'd be!  Love and miss her.

Another run enjoyed.

4th of July Cononial Fest in Orem.  Well done Utah Valley!!

The Heaton Family are so generous and welcoming as we head "home" each summer for a favorite holiday that is incredibly awesome in Provo!!

Lei countdown for Danny's big 40!

Sunset before the big firework shows begin.

Admiring the ass.

Sparkle ice cream at the BYU Creamery on 9th is really good!!

Bridal Veil Falls

Four-wheeling in Santaquin, Utah.  If we lived where we could quad right out our front doors like Lisa and her family...we would!  It was so fun.  Even run-ins into ditches, right Oscar?! :)

Running near the river. I love you, Utah!

Remi's blessing.  5 generations.  Sharon was smiling down no doubt.

Such a sweet Great Grandpa.  Special bond, these two.

Visiting at Mike and Shanna's house after the baby blessing.  Was a memorable afternoon to be surrounded by so many neat people.

Time to head home.  We left at 7 am.  And all 4 of these kids slept until we stopped in Kanab for lunch.  Dan is a road warrior when it comes to driving long stretches.

Home sweet home AZ.

Enjoyed a good swim with some rain.

Which brings us to today...Lego sorting.  The boys have been staying up until 1 a.m. laughing and sorting through Oscar's thousands and thousands of these little foot-biting puppies.  He's putting them in mini sorting cabinets.  If he sells them...he may be able to pay for 1/2 of college.  It's actually pretty impressive.  I love sorting with him...or even on my own.  I have been found a time or two in his room just sorting away.  Staying up late, sleeping in, snow cone shaver machine making 10:30 breakfasts, swimming and movies.  Fruit and ice cream for dinner at 8:00.  These are the days of our summer 2018.  I love them!!
