A non-Christmas Party

To celebrate this guy's birth.

Good friends are real heroes. We had a great time!!

Happy Birthday Sir Henry. We'd keep you at three longer if possible, but I'm sure you'll be just as charming as a 4 year old.

It's Complete

We drove over the bridge on the way to Vegas when it was dark...so Jacob requested that we drive over the dam, back track and drive over the bridge. It was a great idea. So we drove to AZ on the old road, back tracked to NV and then on to AZ via the bridge. It was truly awesome to behold.

Chilly and wet weather didn't stop the crowds nor us from stopping at the look out points at Hoover Dam.

Who knew concrete could be so beautiful? It's worth a trek to see.

Spontaneity

The extent of doing anything unplanned these days is straying from the grocery list to buy grass hopper cookies. An unplanned trip to Vegas was surly in the makings... Haylee called Sunday morning with news that our dear friend, Marina, was going to stop in Las Vegas on her way from Disneyland to Utah with her family.

I haven't the nerve nor heart to let my kids know that Marina and Jenya's 3 very lucky kids from Moscow made it to Disney land before they did.

So with Dan at church meetings, Jacob enlisted as my co-pilot; Oscar and Henry were graciously received at my sister's household, and we were off within 2 hours of the phone call.

Seeing Marina again and meeting her wonderful husband and beautiful children was one of the best days of my life. I told Marina, though I don't know how our dwelling arrangements will be in the next life, I sure hope that we are, if not neighbors, living much closer than we do to each other now.

Thank you Prete family for hosting this memorable reunion. It was so good to see you all.

Lakeside, AZ

Weekend in White Mountains

We spent the weekend in Lakeside, AZ at the Flake's cabin with about five friends and their families. It was chilly for some of us Valley folk...60 degrees had me dreaming of 105 temps. Beautiful setting. Great food. Memorable. Relaxing.

Dan helping Henry warm up to a 10-22. Henry did the trigger pulling himself.
He fired 20 shots within 12 seconds. From what I understand, they hit the spinner a few times as well. At a boy!

Clay pigeon provider...he had earplugs in.

Me firing a shot gun. Ammon was my back up; he stayed super busy.

Henry riding solo for the first time.

Oscar missed giving a narration to Grandma Provonsha during his ride.

Thanks all for a fun weekend.

Boys had a great hike up Rock Canyon. Leaves were gorgeous.

He is pretty tasty.

After lunch at the Lion House.

Boys trying to keep their AZ bodies warm with view of Joseph Smith Memorial Building behind them.

Wrangling the kids for yet another picture.

This is the best I could do to get the kids in the picture. I opted to do without them (see below).

Love the Salt Lake Temple

Brick Oven

It had been years since we'd eaten here. Had to introduce these Rootbeer Buffs to some of its best.

Sundance Peepers

Spent some time at Sundance today. We were loading in our cars when it started sprinkling. Was gorgeous, delicious (Foundry Grill) and memorable (especially Ali's hyperventilating with Ethan on the lift). Twas very different riding the lift down the mountain...I prefer the ride up, too Ethan and Ali.

Leaf Peepers

At Bridal Veil Falls.

Welcome to the Jungle

Wouldn't be a complete trip to Grandma's Mountain w/o a trip to the Bean Museum.

Our little gator

Little O's fall soccer season is underway and his team is called the gators. In today's game, the gators won 4-1 with Oscar scoring 3 goals during the 3rd quarter. This first picture has him scoring his first goal.

He did a great job on defense, too. Here he is getting the ball up the field. The 3rd picture has him winding up to deliver a penalty kick. He sent the ball over all of the defenders to the opposite side of the goal to one of his teammates. I heard the other coach tell one of his parents, "Wow, that was an amazing kick!"
